Rehman has been named as the 'Parliamentarian of the Year: National Campaigner' at road safety charity Brake's annual reception.

Rehman has been given a prestigious national award for his work vigorously campaigning for tougher penalties for repeat drink drivers and other offenders who endanger lives on our roads.

He received the ‘Parliamentarian of the Year: National Campaigner’ award at road safety charity Brake’s annual reception at the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday (14 January 2014).

On Friday (17 January 2014) Rehman visited the successful coach company The Kings Ferry, based in Gillingham and met with the Commercial Director Danny Elford.

Launched nearly 30 years ago, the company runs 36 daily coaches to central London. Last year they carried more than 560,000 passengers.

Rehman joined Damien Rabeau, the new Plant Manager at Delphi Diesel Systems for a tour of their Gillingham site.

On Friday (7 February 2014) Rehman joined Damien Rabeau, the new Plant Manager at Delphi Diesel Systems for a tour of their Gillingham site.

Delphi is a leading supplier of electronics and technology and employs around 1000 people at their UK Headquarters in Gillingham.

Last month it was announced that Delphi had received a £4.1 million investment with new posts being created locally and at its other bases across the country.

Rehman toured their manufacturing facility and technical centre to learn more about how their business operates.

Pupils from Hempstead Junior School visited Parliament on Wednesday (12 March 2014).

Rehman welcomed local pupils to Parliament on Wednesday (12 March 2014).

The students from Hempstead Junior School, in Birch Grove, Gillingham, toured the Houses of Parliament to learn about how it works.

They then had the opportunity to quiz their local Member of Parliament on a range of topics including his role in Parliament.

Rehman said: "It’s always a highlight of my role as the local MP to welcome pupils to Parliament and take their questions on a range of topics. All the students seemed to enjoy their trip and learning about how Parliament works."

The Government has announced that schools in Medway will next year receive additional money to address historic unfairness in the way funding is allocated.

In a question from Rehman in Parliament, the Education Minister, David Laws MP, confirmed that the funding per pupil in Medway will increase to £4,402.

Successful business TAG hairdressing celebrated its 25th anniversary this week at its salon in Watling Street.

Successful business TAG hairdressing celebrated its 25th anniversary this week at its salon in Watling Street.

Rehman joined owners Toni and Glenn Wootton and the team to mark the occasion.

Established in 1989 by the husband and wife team, the salon’s name TAG comes from the owners names.

They have grown it into a thriving business and now have seven hairdressers working there.

The salon has strong links with the local college and offers one apprenticeship a year and placements for Year 10 students.

Rehman has pledged to raise funds for Medway Home-Start in his next half marathon this summer.

Rehman has pledged to raise funds for a local charity in his next half marathon.

On Thursday (24 April 2014) he visited Home-Start Medway to learn more about the work they do to help families in the community.

Home-Start, based in Green Street, Gillingham, recruits and trains volunteers to support parents who have young children.

They have around 65 volunteers providing support for 120 families.

Rehman has pledged to raise funds for them when he takes part in his next half marathon expected to be in Canterbury in August.

One of the issues that I have urged the Prime Minister, David Cameron, to raise is the reform of Pakistan’s outdated blasphemy laws. These have been used to persecute and prosecute the Christian community and they tarnish Pakistan’s name and reputation.
