On Thursday (11 December 2014) Rehman championed Holy Trinity Church Twydall's appeal for roof repairs funding in Parliament.

Rehman wants the Government to consider Holy Trinity for the new Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund.

Mr Chishti is eager to encourage other churches within Gillingham and Rainham to apply for the scheme, which will issue grants to listed places of worship in urgent need of roof repairs.

The Second Church Estates Commissioner Sir Tony Baldry MP welcomed Holy Trinity’s bid and also encouraged all parishes in need of repairs to apply.

During Justice Questions in Parliament, Rehman asked the Justice Minister, Mike Penning MP, if his Bills are being considered under the Government’s review of driving offences and penalties and when the findings of the review will be announced.

Figures for November show that unemployment has fallen to 2.6% in Gillingham and Rainham.

Rehman joined the Communities Minister Kris Hopkins MP on his visit to Rainham today (13 January 2015) to see Medway’s weekly recycling collection in action.

Thanks to £14 million from the Government, Medway has been able to expand its weekly waste collection to include recycling as well – making it even easier for residents and also reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Rehman joined Admiral Lord West for an inspection of the Medway Queen on Friday (16 January 2015).

The former head of the Royal Navy, Admiral Lord West, was recently appointed as the patron for the famous paddle steamer. This was his first visit to see the ship, workshop and visitor centre at Gillingham Pier.

The Medway Queen is the only estuary paddle steamer left in Britain and was the Heroine of Dunkirk, rescuing 7000 men from the beaches of northern France during the Second World War.

Rehman has called for greater collaboration between Medway Hospital and other Health Trusts at a meeting with the Health Secretary.

Rehman has called for greater collaboration between Medway Hospital and other Health Trusts at a meeting with the Health Secretary.

Mr Chishti held talks last week with Jeremy Hunt MP, looking at the progress being made to bring Medway Hospital out of Special Measures.

He thanked him for the Government’s recently announced investment of £13.4m to improve Medway’s A&E, which is one of the largest amount given to a hospital, and asked the Secretary of State to pay another visit to the Trust.
